Project fields

Configuring project fields is a premium feature: it is reserved for the LogAlto Configured and LogAlto+ plans

If you are currently using the Free trial or LogAlto complete plan and wish to get access to Premium features, please contact us at info@logalto.com

For an overview of what you can do in Logalto's administrative settings, go to the section's overview article.

When it gets to managing their project portfolios, no two organizations will have the need for the same exact same information, nor will they label information the same way. For this reason, LogAlto allows the administrators to define what type of information should be associated to the projects, including what is mandatory and what is not.

If you have spent any time creating custom forms, you will notice the similarities: On the left side of the window you have all the field type options which you simply drag and drop under the “Fields” area.

Just like for forms, you can re-order the fields to determine the order in which the users will enter and view the information. However, a number of project fields may be hard coded on your LogAlto. Those fields may not be changed through the Project Fields page and they will always appear first (top) in the project information form.

Field types

Single-line Text This is a standard text field for short strings of letters (e.g.: Name)
Multi-line Text This is a standard text field for longer strings of letters (e.g.: Address)
System List You can create a list or choose from a pre-configured list (see Manage system lists).
Custom Form Like a system list, but you can pull information from existing custom forms. For example, you could pull the name of a partner organization from your stakeholder database.
Date This field is for entering dates in the YY-MM-DD format.
Number This field is for numerical values. Through the edit mode you can specify a minimum and maximum value. Values entered in the number field must be numbers only (so no letters or symbols) Numbers will be separated by the millions: Example: 1,234,567.
Unformatted Number This field allows you to enter number values that will not be formatted as numbers (separating the thousands, millions, etc.). This type of field is useful for when you want to enter for example a phone number. Example: 123456.
Yes/No Use this field for questions of the type Yes/No or True/False.
Location This field will allow your respondents to select a location, through the edit menu you can determine whether respondents should be able to select multiple locations or not.
File This field can allow users to upload a picture or file to the project.
Link The link type of field is for adding URLs. This is especially useful for shared files (For example if your organization is using Dropbox/Share file/Google Drive). When you select a "link" type of field, the user will have the opportunity of adding a label for the URL address that they’re adding, which will be the name with which it will be displayed. Please note that URLs must be in the following format for the moment: http://www.example.com. The URL you add will be open in a new tab.
Latitude/Longitude This field allows the respondent to enter an exact latitude and longitude. The longitude must be between -179 and 179, and the latitude between -89 and 89. If you are importing coordinates through excel, you must enter the number separated by commas without the cardinal point, for example: 55.36,128.060.

Field options

Once you drag and drop a field type into the field area of the screen, you will be automatically prompted to enter the fields options. The only mandatory field is its label, which can be entered in multiple languages. The other option common to all field types are:

Show in the project card view When viewing projects in the form of a cards, this field will be presented in the project's card.
Show the label in the card details In addition to the field information, the label of the field will appear in the card. For example if you selected a "location field" to be shown in the card, a project with a location in Canada will show "Location : Canada" in the card instead of just "Canada".
